Department of Marine Transportation Pastoral Council President, Arcturus Dordas, and VP Education, Neil Angelo Sean, placed 3rd in the Oratical Contest and made it in the 25 finalists of the Search for the 10 Outstanding Maritime Students of the Year, respectively.
The said winnings were in line with the celebration of the 14th National Maritime Week and 18th National Seafarers’ Day, last September 22-29.
According to Sean, the National Seafarers’ Day Committee (NSD) sent an invitation letter to CME Dean, C/M Santiago J. Delfin last July with regards to the competition covered by the event such as 9th Oratical Contest, 5th On-the Spot Contest, 3rd Photo Contest and Western Union’s Search for the 10 Outstanding Maritime Students of the Year.
Sean added it was him and Dordas who were chosen to apply in the Search for the 10 Outstanding Maritime Students of the Year, and passed the requirements last August 16.
On September 4, NSD sent a confirmation letter stating that Sean qualified as one of the 25 finalists conducted at Western Union OFW Pinoy Support Center, 3/F San Luis Bldg., 1006 T.M. Kalaw corner Orosa, Ermita, Manila, and to undergo in a panel interview, exam and on-the spot essay.
Meanwhile, Dordas participated in the Oratical Contest last September 26 at the AMOSUP Convention Hall, and placed 3rd among participants nationwide.
“Winning the 3rd place in that contest meant a lot to me ‘cause it somehow helped me to uphold the image of CPC Maritime Students not just locally but nationally,” Dordas exclaimed.
Mr. Khristoffer Ian Magboo coached the two students.
