After the wrath of super typhoon Yolanda, telecom company Cherry Mobile and Gawad Kalinga Foundation aided Capizeno survivors towards recovery and rebuilding.
Cherry Mobile with its foundation “Cherry Cares” chose CPC to be their partner in the distribution of relief goods to the survivors of the typhoon. Last December 1, representatives of the telecom company along with Students Supreme Pastoral Council and department officers went to Brgy. Punta Cogon, one of the most affected barangays in the city.
“ It is our social responsibility to help our fellow who are in need. Makita mo lang ila mga matahom nga yuhom daw mamag-an na ina sa pamatyagan nga biskan papanu nakabulig ka simo nga kasimanwa,” said Jee Marie Zaragoza, one of the volunteers.
Cherry Cares also aided students of CPC whose families were severely affected by the typhoon. They were given relief goods and used clothes.
Likewise, the non-government organization Gawad Kalinga partnered with CPC and other schools and youth organizations in Capiz in the repacking of relief goods last November 15, 2013 at San Antonio Resorts Village. The relief goods were given to various affected barangays especially Brgy.Olotayan, an island community 10 kms away from the Roxas City shores.
